Dion Phaneuf is finally gone!!!!!

I bet Toronto Maple Leaf fans are so ecstatic as of right now. Dion (Pha-goof) Phaneuf has been traded to the Ottawa Senators in a 9 player deal. Lets break this down.

Ottawa Receives:
D, Dion Phaneuf
F, Matt Frattin
F, Casey Bailey
F, Ryan Rupert
D, Cody Donaghey

Toronto Receives:
D, Jared Cowen
F, Colin Greening
F, Milan Michalek
F, Tobias Lindberg
2017 2nd Round Draft Pick

Neither team retained salary, which is good for Toronto because Dion amassed a cap hit of $7m a year, 6th in the entire league. In comparison to a player like Alex Ovechkin, $8.5m, or Erik Karlsson $6m, that's too darn high. In Detroit, they're lucky to have a guy like Henrik Zetterberg at a cap hit $6.435m/yr. Although they have to amass the enormous salary of the Goofmeister, Ottawa does need more established defensmen. They could've picked up Keith Yandle, Mark Giordano, or even Dennis Wideman, lol. Anyway I'm not exactly sure why the Senators went for a goofball 'mcgundy like Dion Phaneuf as he only has 3 goals and 24 points in 51 games this season.
Matt Frattin is an established veteran forward who can amass 20 goal seasons. He is getting older but he can help out players like Kyle Turris, Bobby Ryan, Mika Zibenajad, and Curtis "Laser" Lazar.
I don't know much about Bailey, Rupert, and Donaghey so I can't vouch for them.
Jared Cowen, a defensive prospect (kindof, 25, not too bad) is more of a defensive defensman, so that can help out the stellar play of Jim Reimer in net.
