Steve Yzerman States He Will Keep Steven Stamkos

Yesterday, Steve Yzerman stated that he will, in fact, keep Steven Stamkos post trade deadline. He said he hopes that the two parties will come to an agreement soon on whether Stamkos will re-sign this upcoming off season, but anything could happen. We don't exactly know what Stamkos wants, whether it be Tampa, Toronto, Winnipeg, any team, we don't know for sure. To start the year, Stamkos started very slow, then picked up it as of late. But still, 42 points and 22 goals in 52 games with a plus/minus rating of-5 isn't good enough for the all-star. Back in the 2011-2012 season, the then 22 year old got 97 points in that season, which beat his previous 91 point season, the year before.

Obviously I'd want him and Johnathan Drouin come to Detroit. I know Detroit can handle the cap, as Pavel Datsyuk, Henrik Zetterberg, and Niklas Kronwall should retire within the next 1-3 years. Johan Franzen, Jimmy Howard, Jonathan Ericsson, Kyle Quincey, and Jakub Kindl could be moved for a massive deal with Tampa. But that's all opinion. I know Tampa wouldn't want to give those two to a big rival like Detroit.
